I became a Personal Trainer to teach, motivate, and empower others.
I first became interested in fitness when I took a conditioning class in high school. Plus, growing up in a Military environment, it seemed like a natural progression.
I believe fitness is a way of life. It breaks my heart to see others, no matter the age, struggling daily because of excess weight or not living due to an inactive lifestyle.
I like to make my clients part of the planning process so they can succeed. Success can mean, "Hey great job on making it to the gym today" or "Wow, you decreased your bodyfat". I believe in putting my client in the spotlight and making it all about them.
I feel the most important aspect of fitness is commitment. As long as you are committed, there's no way you can fail.
My first success story was with my first client. When I met her, she told me she and her husband wanted to have a baby but she would first need to lose weight. She didn't enjoy working out or coming to the gym so I explained to her that by working with me, she could develop a more consistent pattern. She lost the weight she needed to and they now have a 9 year old son.
My next success story is about a whole family who started to make the gym a priority. I had an opportunity to train the wife and mother of a family of four on television. The show was based on getting a group of former high school friends ready for their High School Reunion. The success came not only from the fact that she lost the 50lbs she wanted to, but her family also became healthier and developed a relationship with the gym as well.
When I was a Fitness Manager, I had the privilege to mentor other Personal Trainers help their clients achieve success. There are too many to share, but the success for me was knowing that I helped other personal trainers motivate their clients to want to achieve success.
